Return to the Garden

While hiking in the Garden of the Gods in August, I thought it would be great to return after some snow had fallen. (Very) Early this morning I got the chance to return to the Garden! Though I was surprised to not find as much snow had fallen in the Colorado Springs area as had [...]

Red Tailed Hawk

Shortly after the fox photo-op, I came across this red-tailed hawk. It’s much larger than I thought a hawk would be, but then again, birds of this size are very hard to come by back in the northeast.

Red Fox in Snow

I was out on the Highline Canal bike/multipurpose path this morning getting some exercise and enjoying the newly fallen snow when I came across this guy:

These two were also around Cub Lake during the hike described in the early post today. I did make some adjustment to the photos aside from cropping. I adjusted the shadows on the birds body so you could see it better and darkened the highlights so the sky was more of the natural blue it [...]

New Header

The old (and original) header [...]

Birds of Cub Lake (RMNP)

These photos are from the Cub Lake hike with Outdoor Eyes. As we settled down near some rocks along the lake for some lunch, they came over to join us
This first one is a Stellar Jay

The next two are Gray Jays
