Last weekend I went for my usual 2.5 mile walk along the Highline Canal and was able to get some decent shots of a few wood ducks enjoying the freshly melted snow.

I hadn’t realized, until recently, that the trails of what I thought was Waterton Canyon were actually more like the southern edge of Chatfield State Park (though not formally part of the park). Waterton Canyon is actually across the street from the parking lot and about 1/4 mile down the Colorado Trail. Oh well!

While coming up from one of the swtichbacks along the South Rim Trail (Roxborough State Park) I saw a nice picture of Denver about 35 miles away. I went to college about 35-40 miles southwest of Philadelphia and there is no way you could see Philly from West Chester.

I visited Roxborough State Park again yesterday during our record setting 74 degree day. This time I took the South Rim Trail around the southern portion of the park. It was an interesting mix of hot desert sun beating down on you, extremely dry air, and walking in up to 1 foot of snow!
