Milwaukee Sunrise

I caught my first sunrise over Lake Michigan back in September and am just getting around to posting it. It was quite a nice morning with a cool breeze coming off the lake. I tried to catch the birds flying in front of the sun, but it was hard for the camera to focus. Low [...]

Lawrence University & Appleton, WI

After hiking at High Cliff State Park, I took a ride into Appleton, WI. I’ve met two people from Appleton over the last 30 or so years, so figured I’d check it out since I was so close. It turns out its a pretty neat little town. It has the same peaceful feel to it [...]

Boerner Botanical Gardens

I visited Boerner Botanical Gardens last month and had an enjoyable walk around the grounds. While its not as big as other botanical gardens I’ve been to, it does have a nice variety of plants and flowers. It also has a very large rose garden.

Cycling the City

I decided to explore the downtown Milwaukee area this morning, specifically the waterfront. I started out at Veterans Park around 9am, rode down to Lakeshore State Park, back up to Big Bay Park in Whitefish Bay, down to Brady Street for the Festival, back to the Art Museum to check out the art fair there, [...]

I spent the last four days in Milwaukee searching for an apartment and was lucky enough to find a really nice one right away. This afforded me the opportunity to take a nice long walk down by the lake once the fierce thunderstorms had passed. Unfortunately, I only had my little Canon point and shoot [...]

Lake Loveland Sunset

On the way back from Rocky Mountain National Park last Sunday I stopped by Lake Loveland in Loveland, CO to watch the sunset behind the rockies. I wasn’t even paying attention to it at first because I was heading east at the time back to I-25, but saw it out of the corner of my [...]

Bighorn in RMNP

After nearly a year of hoping to see them, and many failed attempts at trying to find them, I finally came across some big horn sheep (a.k.a. Rams) on my way into Rocky Mountain National Park at the Fall River Entrance. There was a herd of about six or seven males with about four or [...]

Colorado Trail & Waterton Canyon

I hadn’t realized, until recently, that the trails of what I thought was Waterton Canyon were actually more like the southern edge of Chatfield State Park (though not formally part of the park). Waterton Canyon is actually across the street from the parking lot and about 1/4 mile down the Colorado Trail. Oh well!
Yesterday I walked [...]
